Alex de Minaur lands in hot water over comment about girlfriend Katie Boulter

Tennis player Alex de Minaur may find himself in hot water following a comment he made about his girlfriend, Katie Boulter, ahead of Australia’s United Cup clash against Great Britain. The event is scheduled to take place at Perth’s RAC Arena.

While discussing the possibility of facing Boulter in mixed doubles, de Minaur made a remark that raised eyebrows. He stated, “Well, you never know until you sign on the dotted line, come that mixed (doubles). I could be an option (for the doubles). I have played mixed in the past with Katie, so I know all her weaknesses! I’ve watched enough of her matches to know the spots to be attacking. If we step out on court, it’s just all business.”

Fellow Australian tennis star John Millman quickly intervened and playfully teased de Minaur over his comment, stating, “My missus doesn’t have any weaknesses. That’s pretty brave of you to say that (about Katie). You’re in trouble. You might be sleeping on the pullout in my room tonight.”

While playfully teasing his compatriot, Millman expresses his delight at teaming up with the Australian tennis sensation once again.

“Throughout my career, I’ve witnessed his growth from being an Orange Boy to now becoming Australia’s No.1 tennis player, truly knocking on the door to the top 10,” Millman stated.

“He’s been one of my closest mates. To share the court with him one last time is going to be a lot of fun. I couldn’t think of a better group of people to represent the green and gold. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Meanwhile, Ajla Tomljanovic is poised to make a strong comeback after a knee injury nearly derailed her entire 2023 season. She expresses her excitement about returning to the court, stating, “It just makes me more excited to be back.”

“I always aim to give my best in the month of January; that’s a constant for me. Taking a bit of time off only fuels my motivation even more.”

The Australian player is gearing up for a formidable match against Boulter, marking only their second encounter after Boulter secured a victory on grass in 2022 with a score of 6-3, 6-4.
