DEAR JANE: I made a stupid mistake
Dear Jane ,
I’ve made a huge mistake. It’s incredibly embarrassing and foolish, and I fear it may have cost me the closest people in my life.
To give you some context, I’ve had a tight-knit group of friends for the past four years. When I moved from Australia to Chicago for work, I knew almost no one except for a mutual acquaintance introduced to me by a colleague back home.
Thankfully, she turned out to be amazing. She went out of her way to introduce me to others, show me around the city, recommend great places to eat—she even helped me settle into my new home and accompanied me furniture shopping.
