Presidential poll: Imran Khan fields Mahmood Khan Achakzai against Asif Zardari

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) on Saturday nominated Pashtunkha Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai as its candidate for the post of president.

Announcing the decision today, the SIC named Achakzai as a contender for the constitutional post against Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

Zardari is the joint candidate of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and other political parties who will be part of the coalition to form the government at the Centre.
