During this period, petrol is anticipated to become more affordable by one rupee and 72 paise, while the cost of high-speed diesel is expected to rise by one rupee per liter. Islamabad anticipates a prospective decline in petrol prices during the initial 15 days of the upcoming year, according to reports from diverse media outlets.

Commencing on January 1 and extending for the subsequent 15 days, a marginal reduction in petrol prices is on the horizon. The projection outlines a potential decrease of one rupee and 72 paise in the cost of petrol within this specific timeframe. Simultaneously, expectations point towards an increase of one rupee per liter in the price of high-speed diesel.

The pivotal decision-making authority concerning these proposed adjustments rests with the finance ministry. Following a meticulous review of recommendations presented by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the finance ministry will engage in deliberations regarding potential alterations. Notably, this decision-making process will feature consultations with the interim prime minister, emphasizing a collaborative approach in charting the course of action.

The economic ramifications of these fuel price adjustments extend across various sectors, impacting the general populace. A potential reduction in petrol prices holds the promise of providing relief to consumers and businesses alike, fostering a more favorable economic environment. Conversely, the projected increase in high-speed diesel costs raises concerns for sectors heavily dependent on diesel, including transportation and logistics.
