Sad sign Aussies have hit breaking point

Being a financially struggling university student is often seen as a rite of passage, but the current cost of living crisis has exacerbated this issue, causing more young people to experience ongoing financial anxiety.

University students are no longer just subsisting on instant noodles and microwavable meals.

Many now face the genuine concern of whether they can afford their next meal.

In response, Western Sydney University recently launched the Western Pantry, a grocery store operating on Mondays and Wednesdays where all items are free.

On its opening day, over 100 students utilized the service. Miranda Zhang, Student Community Program Coordinator, informed news.com.au that “food insecurity” is a growing concern among students.

“Our recent survey revealed that 52 percent of our students have worried about running out of food before having the means to purchase more,” Ms. Zhang stated.
