All Sydney Train Shutdown Due to Union Strike
Sydney trains will be halted for four days starting Thursday as the Rail Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) escalates its industrial dispute with the government. NSW Transport Minister Jo Haylen confirmed the shutdown, which will last until Sunday, due to the union’s demand for 24-hour train services.
The government had agreed to a trial last weekend but rejected the union’s ultimatum, offering a limited 24-hour service between Hornsby and Strathfield instead. Haylen called the union’s demand unfeasible, warning that pushing for continuous services could damage the rail network.
With the shutdown set to affect over a million commuters daily, Sydney will face significant transport disruption from Thursday night to Sunday morning.
