Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi, 63, is confirmed dead

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was killed on Sunday after a helicopter carrying him and other officials crashed in Iran’s northwestern mountainous region.

The 63-year-old Raisi was confirmed dead by Iranian media today, along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian, Governor of East Azerbaijan Province Malik Rahmati and Tabriz Friday Prayer Imam Mohammad Ali Al-Hashim.

Two pilots and three other Iranian officials and a security guard were also killed in the crash.
