The attorney for one of the three men accused of gang raping three teenagers during a weekend shopping spree argues that the jury “can never” convict his client of rape based on the “patently erroneous” evidence presented in court.

Andrew David, 30, along with his brothers Maurice Hawell, 30, and Marius Hawell, 22, have pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated sexual assault in concert, attempted aggravated sexual assault in concert, and serious sexual touching.

The trio was celebrating Maurice’s upcoming wedding with a shopping party in Newcastle during a weekend in February 2022 when they allegedly raped three women.
