In a tragic turn of events, a pregnant teenager from Texas, Savanah Soto, her unborn child, and her boyfriend were fatally shot in what the San Antonio Police now classify as a capital murder case.

The devastating discovery unfolded at a San Antonio apartment complex the day after Christmas, where the lifeless bodies of the 18-year-old Soto, who was nine months pregnant and a week overdue, and her boyfriend, 22-year-old Matthew Guerra, were found inside a car. Soto’s family had reported her missing on Friday when she failed to appear for a scheduled induction.

Official identification by the San Antonio Police is pending, awaiting the medical examiner’s report. However, Soto’s family has confirmed her tragic demise to Fox San Antonio.

Addressing the incident during a press conference on Tuesday night, SAPD Chief William McManus described the crime scene as “complex” and “perplexing,” highlighting the gravity and intricacy of the ongoing investigation.

He reported that the bodies were discovered in a Kia Optima linked to Soto’s disappearance, possibly having been in the car for three to four days.

Court records examined by Fox News Digital reveal that Guerra had a history of legal troubles, including a probationary period for assaulting Soto on Christmas day in 2022. His probation was subsequently extended to February 2025 due to additional charges, including unlawful carry of a weapon, reckless driving, and evading arrest.

Police have not said whether they believe Guerra was involved in the deaths of Soto and her unborn baby. No suspects have been named.

Soto’s family recently suffered another similar tragedy. His 15-year-old brother, Ethan Soto, was shot and killed after a street fight in May 2022, according to Fox San Antonio.

In the courtroom proceedings involving the accused murderer, a brawl erupted between the Soto family members and those of the suspect. Fox San Antonio reported that charges of assault and disrupting court proceedings were filed against two men and two juveniles.

Law enforcement has not provided any indication of a connection between Ethan’s death and Savanah’s tragic demise.
