Dr Saveera Parkash,first Hindu PPP candidate

In an unprecedented move, Dr. Saveera Parkash, the initial Hindu nominee running in the upcoming general elections on the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) ticket for the Buner (PK-25) constituency, has expressed her commitment to fostering diplomatic ties between Pakistan and India if she secures the position. Additionally, she aims to be a staunch advocate for women’s rights in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

This groundbreaking candidacy marks a historic moment in the province, as Dr. Saveera, an educated candidate, represents the minority Hindu community—a significant departure from the conservative norms of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In an interview with Geo News, the 25-year-old candidate proudly embraces the title ‘daughter of Buner.’ She emphasizes the support she has garnered from her “Muslim brothers,” who not only pledge their votes but also offer unwavering backing. Dr. Saveera underscores her belief that, beyond religious differences, humanity stands as the paramount global faith.

Hailing from the village of Dagar and born in 1998, Dr. Saveera completed her primary and secondary education in her hometown. However, she pursued her FSC in pre-medical studies in Lahore. The aspiring young doctor furthered her education in medicine in Abbottabad and embarked on a house job.

Currently, Dr. Saveera is in the process of preparing for the Central Superior Services (CSS) in Pakistan, following her nomination by the PPP to run in the upcoming polls. Her allegiance to the PPP stems from her family’s steadfast support for the party over a span of 37 years.

In the event of a successful election outcome, Dr. Saveera, as a lawmaker, intends to prioritize initiatives that promote education and address pressing concerns such as healthcare and environmental pollution. She expresses deep concern about the insufficient healthcare facilities in her district and the prevailing lack of education and awareness about healthcare issues.

Dr. Saveera is particularly focused on addressing the disparity in women’s rights and opportunities for advancement, identifying these challenges as critical areas that need urgent attention among her top priorities.

The political figure, gearing up for participation in one of the pivotal elections in the recent political history of the country, characterized Bilawal’s visit to Goa as a constructive step in enhancing Indo-Pak relations.

Dr. Saveera initially pursued a career in medicine, inspired by her father’s dedication to humanitarian service. Reflecting on the challenges in the underprivileged district of Buner, she remarked, “Buner faces numerous issues with a shortage of essential facilities.”

During her tenure in a house job, the young doctor came to the realization that addressing the district’s challenges required a distinctive approach. Consequently, she made the decision to venture into the realm of politics.
