Pakistan not support Fazlur Rehman visit to Afghanistan

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zahra Baloch, has stated that the Pakistani government is not endorsing Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s visit to Afghanistan. Upon his return from the Afghan tour, he will be briefed about the developments.

Speaking during the weekly press briefing, Zahra Baloch highlighted the Global Health Security Conference held in Islamabad, where more than 70 delegations participated. The Foreign Minister emphasized global cooperation against future pandemics, and the conference is set to conclude today in Islamabad.

Addressing the situation in Gaza, the Foreign Office spokesperson expressed Pakistan’s support for bringing Israel to international justice. Pakistan stands in complete solidarity with South Africa in endorsing its legal action against Israel. Pakistan promptly understands and supports South Africa’s legal initiative, demanding an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza and calling for an end to the killing of Palestinians.

Reiterating Pakistan’s stance on the Palestinian issue, the spokesperson emphasized a two-state solution for Palestine, with borders predating the 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as the capital.

Regarding the Kashmir issue, Zahra Baloch stated that India has been denying the right to self-determination for Kashmiris for 70 years. Pakistan supports the internationalization of the issue and fully endorses South Africa’s legal pursuit against Israel.

Responding to questions about Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s visit to Afghanistan as part of the delegation of Islamic scholars, the Foreign Office spokesperson clarified that the Pakistani government is not supporting Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s tour. There will be no comments on Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s visits and meetings, as it is a private tour. Briefing will be conducted after his return.

Regarding the dialogue with proscribed organizations like the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Zahra Baloch stated that Pakistan has no interest in dialogue. The TTP has perpetrated numerous terrorist attacks within Pakistan, and our demand remains that the interim Afghan government take action against terrorists.

She further added that Pakistan believes in dialogue and diplomacy. During the visit of the Afghan Commerce Minister, various issues were discussed, and it is hoped that dialogue will bring peace and stability to the region.
