Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will visit Pakistan on April 22
Islamabad: Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi will pay a two-day visit to Pakistan on April 22.
This will be his first foreign visit in the context of tensions between Iran and Israel. On Saturday, Iran launched drones to attack Israel. Ibrahim Raisi is the first foreign head of state/government to visit Pakistan after Shahbaz Sharif took over as Prime Minister last month.
Iranian embassy sources told The News on Sunday evening that Islamabad and Tehran are yet to announce the official schedule of the visit, but President Ibrahim Raisi’s plan to visit Islamabad is final. The Foreign Office has also confirmed the visit.
Raisi first congratulated Shehbaz Sharif on assuming office.
Recent developments and regional security situation will be highlighted in the talks between President Raisi and Prime Minister Shehbaz. President Asif Ali Zardari will host a dinner in honor of the President.
The visit is part of ongoing efforts by the two countries to deepen their cooperation, which suffered a temporary setback in January’s missile exchange.
