ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan was arrested by the Rawalpindi Police in at least a dozen cases related to the May 9 violence, including the attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ), when the Islamabad Accountability Court convicted him. According to the chargesheet, the former PTI chairman kept 58 of the 108 gifts he received from various heads of state during his tenure as prime minister. The court accused Mr. Khan of procuring these gifts at ‘wasteful’ prices.
The learned judge adjourned further proceedings of the Tosha Khana reference till January 11 and summoned 12 witnesses on the same date. It alleged that Bushra Bibi ignored the rules of the Tosha Khana and kept lavish and expensive jewels in her possession. However, the military secretary reported this gift in 2020.
According to the list of the prosecution, two senior military officers, including the former military secretary of the former prime minister, will testify in the case, while private appraiser Soheb Abbasi has also become Imran Khan’s lawyer.
Prosecution witnesses include Khan’s former military secretary Brigadier Muhammad Ahmed, Deputy Military Secretary Colonel Rehan Mehmood, Tosha Khana Section Officers Benamin, Nida Rehman, NAB Additional Director Qaiser Mehmood, State Bank of Pakistan Joint Director Sajid Khan, Assistant Secretary Protocol.
